Art education thrives on dialogue: Our diverse program invites you to experience contemporary art, develop new perspectives together, and reflect on social issues. Whether for children, young people, or adults, art enthusiasts, professionals, or spontaneous visitors, we offer space for encounters, exchange, and personal approaches to art. Through participatory formats, interdisciplinary approaches, and inclusive offerings, we break down barriers, learn from each other, and create lasting impact.

Guided Tours for Adults
Our guided tours invite you to discover art and its contexts from new perspectives. Our art educators provide fascinating insights into current exhibitions, the unique architecture of our building, and the diverse contexts of contemporary art. Whether public tours, architectural tours, curator-led tours, or tours in foreign languages, we offer numerous opportunities to explore art and its discourses. Participation in these events is included in the admission price.
We invite you to experience a new form of art education with meet+talk. Discover what happens when a monologue becomes a dialogue. Join the conversation and experience how exciting direct encounters with artworks can be.

Workshops
The workshops at the Kunsthalle Düsseldorf offer diverse formats inspired by current exhibitions. From drawing and painting to crocheting and bookbinding, photography, and sculptural work, you’ll have the opportunity to develop your own ideas and learn new techniques. Under the expert guidance of artists and art educators, we encourage creative engagement with art and support visitors in developing their personal expression. In dialogue with the current exhibition, we inspire artistic exploration and create spaces for creative experimentation.

Children, Young People, and Families
The Kunsthalle Düsseldorf offers a varied program for children, young people, and families. On the second Sunday of each month, in cooperation with Stadtwerke Düsseldorf, we invite you to our Family Day, where admission and participation in the program are free. Enjoy an exciting family tour followed by a creative session in the studio, where you can experiment and participate. Additionally, we organize holiday workshops inspired by current exhibitions. Another highlight is our participation in Düsseldorf’s Children’s Museum Night at the end of the first school semester, where young artists can discover the exciting world of art together.
Explore our Instagram account KuKi! This joint project by KIT – Kunst im Tunnel and the Kunsthalle Düsseldorf is dedicated to digital art education for the whole family. You’ll find exciting insights into our exhibitions, creative craft ideas for home, and information about our children’s and family programs. KuKi is our digital studio, where we explore art together in a playful way.

Diversity and Inclusion
As an exhibition space for everyone, we are committed to diversity and inclusion. Our inclusive offerings, such as audio-described tours for blind, visually impaired, and sighted visitors, as well as guided tours interpreted into German Sign Language for deaf, hearing-impaired, and hearing guests, provide opportunities to experience art. Further information on accessibility at the Kunsthalle Düsseldorf can be found here.
Additionally, we promote exchange and participation through discursive formats, such as our exhibition-related reading group and the event series “Goodbye/Hello: On the Way to the Kunsthalle of the Future.” Here we address critical issues of power or collectively reflect on the future of a cultural institution accessible to all.
STUDIO+ is our outreach project, specifically collaborating with various institutions to enable cultural participation for people who have previously been hindered by barriers. Interested in collaborating? Please contact Jana-Catharina Israel at +49 (0)211-54 23 77 52 or .
