In a vocal performance featuring excerpts from Franz Schubert's “Winterreise,” artist Emmélie Lempert musically treats a staging form of the theme of wandering. Similar to Schubert's song cycle, Lempert's work deals with the multifaceted ambivalence of feelings of loneliness, longing and hope. In her singing, she embodies the figure of the wanderer as Schubert's lyrical ego, where she traverses between emotional states, fictional spaces and dystopian realities.
