The female body is often interpreted as a provocation. It is measured against the male body, deemed inferior, weak, and insignificant. Thus, the use of the female body, its visibility, and its movement in space can, in certain contexts, be inherently seen as an act of self-determined behavior. After all, it is about overcoming supposed female attributes such as passivity and dependency. How then can the female body be read and utilized as a tool of resistance, critique, and questioning of a patriarchal status quo in everyday life? What gestures and movements do I encounter on the streets and in the media? What role does the female body play in my daily life as a carrier of stories, memories, and emotions?
In the performance Marianne, an exploration involving three bodies will be presented.
