Since Documenta 15 at the latest, the debate about antisemitism in art has escalated into a dispute. Two seemingly irreconcilable positions often oppose each other: on the one hand, the position of complete artistic freedom, which should not be restricted; on the other, a critique of antisemitic depictions and the demand that they not be supported with state funds.
In an interactive lecture with a workshop format, the long tradition of antisemitic resentment will be clarified and the arguments of both positions will be presented. How can one develop one’s own position on this, and what is the role of art institutions and museums?
The event is part of the event series _Tschüss – Hallo. Towards the Kunsthalle of the future.
