Juergen Staack
expanded
Edited by Sabine Maria Schmidt
Hirmer, 2025
ISBN 978-3-7774-4726-1
What is a (photographic) image and what can it do? For more than twenty years, Juergen Staack has been exploring the intersections of photography, conceptual art, performance, and language. The recently published monograph expanded, edited by Sabine Maria Schmidt, traces through numerous images and texts how Staack artistically expands notions, readings, and terminologies of photography in a time of overheated image production.
In the evening, Valeria Liebermann (art historian and independent curator), Peter Friese (Artistic Director of Kunstverein Ruhr e.V., former director of Weserburg Museum für Moderne Kunst), and Juergen Staack will discuss the book and the works.
Hannes Norberg
Feld und Fläche
Distanz Verlag, 2025
ISBN 978-3-95476-812-7
The monograph Feld und Fläche presents, in seven chapters, the conceptual development of Hannes Norberg’s artistic practice from 2010 to 2025, complemented by sketches and earlier works. Using simple materials, he creates architectural arrangements and landscape-like situations oriented toward the camera. Drawing, graphic work, and sculptural approaches alternate with analog and digital techniques, merging into structured image fields. The book is designed by the artist himself and includes his own annotations.
In conversation with Dr. Peter Foos (author and lecturer at the Institute for Art and Art Theory at the University of Cologne), Hannes Norberg will provide insights into his working process.
During the evening, both artists will also present an edition and additional works.
The event will conclude with a gathering at Salon des Amateurs.
