Two-day workshop with artist and biologist Klaus Fritze

Location: Malkastenpark
We’ll meet in Malkastenpark on a summer’s day to search together for creatures that usually elude our gaze: the so-called ‘cryptogams’ that make their home on old statues, in cracks in walls and on tree bark – ‘plants that marry in secret’, as the term translates from Greek: mosses, lichens, fungi, ferns and algae all belong to this group.
What will we be doing in the workshop? Using eagle eyes, magnifying glasses and tweezers, we’ll find mosses, lichens and the like, which we’ll then identify using field guides or apps. Afterwards, in the park laboratory beneath the Lindenrondell, we’ll work together to create species labels using all sorts of materials.
