Play / Stop

3 September – 7 September 2014

For five days in September 2014, the ÜBER ECK project will be showing the work of nine artists engaging with the spatiality of the exhibition spaces at Kunsthalle Düsseldorf. This project continues the Kunsthalle tradition – exemplified
in particular by the exhibition series between – of utilising the periods between the main temporary exhibitions for additional short, experimental exhibitions.

The artists participating in ÜBER ECK were selected under the criteria of not being represented by a particular gallery and of all belonging to roughly the same
generation. All of the artists studied at Kunstakademie Düsseldorf.

The exhibition is also characterised by the systematic and rather covert creation of the artworks, which have found form in media such as painting, installation, drawing, sculptural painting, sculpture and video.
All of the exhibited works engage with the given spatial environment in the Kunsthalle.

ÜBER ECK is joining a long tradition of exhibition series at Kunsthalle Düsseldorf, while also participating in a completely new conflation of different positions currently evident in independent art production in Düsseldorf, under the umbrella of the Düsseldorf/Cologne gallery weekend, DC OPEN.

With Natalie Bell, Ralf Berger, Peter Ewig, Christian Forsen, Bianca Grüger, Heinz Hausmann, Bernd Kastner, Jörn Kruse, Friederike Schardt

Curated by Gregor Jansen and Jörg Schlürscheid
