Damaris Kerkhoff. Parkhaus Kunsthalle
MUR BRUT 08
–
For Kunsthalle MUR BRUT, selected artists regularly create a work for a wall in the parking garage at Grabbeplatz 4. Using a reductionist approach, Damaris Kerkhoff opens up questions about the potentials and limits of a picture depending on its spatial and material context.
What possibilities does a picture offer? How does its effect change with shifts in location, size, and materiality? It starts with a picture taken with a mobile phone—quick and easy. A snippet of time, a moment of intimacy—a hand, a touch. In various encounters with the subject, time begins to condense, and the sequence becomes an overlap. An omnipresence that takes place as a singular moment. A different body, new ideas, and new encounters are formed.
Damaris Kerkhoff studied under Rosemarie Trockel at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf.
She is currently an artist in residence at Schloss Ringenberg.
