Amit Goffer: Sleeping for Tomorrow project #0.1
–
The project Sleeping for Tomorrow #0.1 is part of a social art project that started May 2021, created by the Israeli-German artist Amit Goffer.
Facing unpredicted worldwide uncertainty and shifts, we discover significant internal and external changes affecting us all: strong emotions arise such as stress and overwhelming hope. The unfolding story of the pandemic (not even to speak of the current war in the Ukraine) has raised global changes and questions about our values, and the validity of familiar norms which we lived by and believed in. There is an extensive search for the “new” stable and the “new” consistent, in this world whose story is still being written as we speak.
At Kunsthalle Düsseldorf Amit Goffer presents a site-specific object made of thin aluminium bars and bended plastic for one person to enter. Located between the intimate and the unhindered space, an alternative way of communication is offered.
Via a button, the visitor’s voice can be recorded, and messages from all over the world are displayed at Kunsthalle Düsseldorf – significant moments can be shared both ways.
